What determines the worldwide shipping cost?
The shipping cost overseas depends on three things: the chargeable weight of the parcel, the destination country and the courier service you choose. Couriers do not charge only for the kilos on the scale: they compare the actual weight with the volumetric weight and charge for the greater of the two.
Volumetric weight is calculated as length × width × height in centimetres divided by 5,000. A 40 × 30 × 30 cm box has a volumetric weight of 7.2 kg even if it only weighs 2 kg, so you would pay for 7.2 kg. That is why bulky packaging is so expensive to ship internationally.
