Repackaging

Repackaging: a smaller box, a cheaper shipment

Oversized retail boxes make you pay for air. Your LocalHub repacks your purchase into a snug, protected box so the courier charges you for less volume and less weight.

Why repackaging lowers your shipping cost

International couriers bill the chargeable weight: the greater of the real weight and the volumetric weight (length × width × height / 5,000). Stores often ship small items in large boxes full of filler, so you end up paying for empty space. Repacking the same products into a box that fits them can noticeably reduce the price of the shipment.

Your LocalHub removes the original retail box and unnecessary filler, places your items in a right-sized box with the protection they need, and records the new weight and dimensions in your dashboard. You see the result before you pay, so you can compare it with the original package in the shipping calculator.

Repackaging works well with consolidation: group several purchases in one compact box and ship once. If you want the original packaging kept, tell us in the request and we will leave it as it is. Materials used, if any, are listed in materials.

Repackaging FAQ

How does repackaging reduce my shipping cost?

Couriers charge by the greater of real and volumetric weight. A smaller box lowers the volumetric weight, so the chargeable weight and the price go down. Check it in the calculator.

Can I keep the original packaging?

Yes. Just say so in your request and we will not repack the parcel.

Is my item protected after repackaging?

Yes. Your LocalHub uses cushioning suited to the product, and you can ask for photos of the result.

Can I repack several parcels into one?

Yes. Combine repackaging with package consolidation to ship several purchases in one compact box.
