Forwarding is one of those words that covers several services. In shipping it always means the same basic idea: someone receives your goods and sends them on to where you really need them. The difference is the scale.
Package forwarding
Package forwarding is designed for individuals, online shoppers and small businesses. You receive a local address, shop at local stores and the forwarder ships your parcels abroad. Typical features include storage, consolidation, repacking and help with customs documents.
It is the right option when stores do not deliver to your country, when you buy from several shops, or when you want to ship small volumes without a logistics contract. Read how it works in our Spain parcel forwarding guide.
Freight forwarding
Freight forwarding is for companies moving large commercial cargo: pallets, full containers, machinery or bulk goods. The freight forwarder books air, sea or road transport, handles export and import formalities and coordinates the whole chain.
Mail forwarding
Mail forwarding is the third cousin: it redirects letters and small documents to a new address. It is common for expats but not designed for bulky purchases.
